Branch Elections & Health Care - An American Challenge:
The
Elmira/Corning
branch of the NAACP scheduled its general membership meeting on Saturday,
November 18, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., at the Ernie Davis Community Center, 362
East 5th
Street, Elmira, NY. The meeting consisted of the final phase of the
branch election
process, together with a health education presentation in the form of a
hat show
by the Breast Service Team at Corning Hospital, representing one of the
reasons
why women do not have mammograms. In addition, information was provided
on
Long Term Care Insurance and Healthy Eating Habits. The public
was encouraged
to attend.

Kwanzaa
Program:
The Elmira/Corning Branch of the National Association
for the advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and the
Alliance of International Misters (AIM) presented a Kwanzaa
Celebration, Friday, December 29, 2006, 6:00 p.m.,
Friendship Baptist Church, 120 Pearl Street, Corning, New
York. The speaker was Ms. Brenda Brown of Binghamton, New
York. Ms. Brown addressed the seven Kwanzaa Principles,
Utilizing the theme “Kwanzaa – The Principles and Practice
of Bringing Good into the World. The candle lighting
ceremony will be done by area youth. The public was invited,
and refreshments were served.
